Hybrid design for a triangular site
One of our first apartment buildings, Fina was built on a challenging triangular site bounded by High Street to the north, the railway line to the east and a quiet residential street to the west. This project includes a three-storey building of single level apartments on a corner that steps down to two-storey townhouses at the boundary which adjoins a residential neighbourhood.
A small commercial tenancy at the apex of the triangle creates an active frontage at street level. The façade is wrapped in a timber screen that has been adapted to respond to the orientation of each façade. The west and east screens are operable to help manage the sun, while also providing an active façade that creates a dialogue with the streets below.
