Karen Alcock

Principal, FRAIA

Karen has 20 years experience working on multi residential and award winning housing projects.

Karen established MAA after 10 years working with Clare as co-directors of Neometro Architects. Karen places a strong emphasis on the critical role of design in architectural practice, in addition to a strong design focus, Karen also brings to the practice strengths in project delivery and practice management.

Karen is actively involved in promoting the importance of design and architecture in the community. She is the Chair of The Melbourne University Architecture Advisory Board and a member of the Australian Institute of Architects, Victorian Chapter Council. Karen was made a fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects in 2016.

Ben Schmideg

Associate

Ben joined MAA as a student whilst studying at the University of Melbourne. In 2012, he participated in a studio exchange in Germany. Since returning to MAA, Ben has worked closely with Karen on the design of several key MAA projects including Wangaratta and Nicholson Street.

Rachael McNally

Associate

Rachael joined MAA in 2016 after a 6 month 'grand tour' visiting Europe. Rachael is a talented all-rounder and project leader who has worked on a number of larger projects and brings to MAA solid managerial and project delivery skills.

Clare is widely respected for her professionalism and ability to successfully oversee projects through planning and the appeals process.

After 20 years collaborating with Karen on the development of MAA Clare has stepped back from her leadership role to complete post-graduate studies at Melbourne University focusing on Urban Design.

Clare will continue her involvement with the practice on a part time basis.
